Xiaomi Buds 5 debut globally as affordable Apple AirPods competitor
Xiaomi has introduced a new pair of wireless earbuds for the global market, the Buds 5. These feature a half-in-ear design, just like the Apple AirPods 4. With this semi-in-ear design and a lightweight build, the buds aim to deliver a comfortable fit on a variety of ears.
However, the Xiaomi Buds 5 aren't all about comfort. These Bluetooth earbuds have Snapdragon Sound, which brings Qualcomm aptX Lossless audio. The company says that the maximum transmission rate is 1.2 Mbps, which is higher than Sony's LDAC.
In addition to that, the Buds 5 feature Harman AudioEFX. With this, Xiaomi aims to deliver high-quality sound. To further enhance the audio experience, these new wireless earbuds have active noise cancellation.
For handling calls, the Xiaomi Buds 5 have a three-microphone setup with AI noise cancellation. The wireless earbuds have a good battery life rating as well. After a full charge, they are said to deliver up to 39 hours of runtime with the charging case (Ugreen Nexode 100W power bank curr. $54.39 on Amazon). The buds themselves can offer up to 6.5 hours of battery life.
Other notable features of the Buds 5 include compatibility with the Xiaomi Earbuds app, IP54 rating, touch controls, and 3D audio with dynamic head tracking. As for the price, the new wireless buds are available at €99 (about $110).
