Although JONR was only founded in 2022, the young company from Guandong, China, already offers several wet and dry vacuum cleaners. The P20 Pro is JONR's first fully automatic robovac with an all-in-one cleaning station, and the device also has a mopping function. With a MSRP of $699.98 / £777.58 / €599.99, the JONR P20 Pro undercuts other robovacs with mopping functionality and an all-in-one cleaning station, which typically sell between $800 and $1,000. In our hands-on review, we evaluate how the JONR P20 Pro performs in everyday use, despite its relatively affordable price for a wide range of features.
Features and design - a lot of things for relatively little money
The JONR P20 Pro vacuum and mopping robot is ready for use in just a few simple steps after unpacking. This is because most of the parts, such as the disposable dust bag, are pre-assembled at the factory. All you need to do is insert a side brush and magnetically attach two mops to the bottom. The base station is ready for use after attaching a small extension plate and filling the fresh water tank with a maximum capacity of 4 liters (1.06 gal), after removing the protective film from the tanks.
To set up the base station, the manufacturer recommends a hard surface on a wall with at least 3 inches (8 cm) of clearance to the sides and 4 feet (1.2 m) to the front. The base station has to be plugged into a wall socket as usual, but we miss an on/off switch on the base station itself.
JONR's new robovac offers sufficient suction power of 8000 Pascal (Pa) including automatic mop lift of 0.315 in (8 mm) when cleaning carpets. The JONR P20 Pro has an anti-tangle roller brush to prevent hair from getting caught in the main brush at the bottom of the mop. The right-handed mop can also be extended for better corner cleaning.
The noise level for sweeping and mopping is 65 dB, while the noise level for vacuuming is a relatively high 83 dB. The maximum battery life for combined sweeping and vacuuming is 2.7 to 3.8 hours, although the JONR P20 Pro needs to be returned to the base station regularly due to the lack of a water tank. The manufacturer claims a charging time of 6.5 hours for the 5,2000 mAh battery. People with allergies will be relieved to know that JONR's P20 Pro features a HEPA dust filter.
Software and usability - Extensive configuration via the Xiaomi Home app
Starting basic cleaning and returning to the base station can be done directly on the robotic cleaner using the appropriate buttons, and detailed configuration of the JONR P20 Pro is possible using the Xiaomi Home app. Here, you can either search for the smart home device via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, or simply scan a QR code under the top flap of the JONR P20 Pro. In the Xiaomi Home app, you can view the map of your home that the robot vacuum and mop will create during the initial cleaning processes.
Although the JONR P20 Pro has obstacle detection using laser distance sensors (LDS) and a contact sensor on the front of the device, the lack of an AI camera is clearly noticeable due to the inconsistent obstacle detection. Fortunately, the Xiaomi Home app allows you to set up individual exclusion areas, and it is also possible to clean multiple floors and create multiple maps via the app.
In the Xiaomi Home app, you can select which cleaning program the robot should use (default: vacuum first, then wipe). There is also information about the duration of the current cleaning and the battery status of JONR's P20 Pro. The app can also be used to manage multiple maps, create schedules and update the robovac's firmware.
It would be preferable if the Xiaomi Home app would automatically download and activate the appropriate language for the JONR P20 Pro robot when the smartphone is set to a language other than English. This is because the vacuum and mopping robot uses English by default. Overall, the Xiaomi Home app works as smoothly as usual, and it's nice to see JONR relying on a well-known app instead of offering its own development. This is due to the fact that Xiaomi's Home app integrates third-party devices and can even install firmware updates for the JONR P20 Pro.
Real-world use - Good cleaning performance with minor limitations
JONR's P20 Pro was put through its paces in a test lasting several weeks, during which it showed both good and bad sides. The detection of corners, obstacles and carpets is satisfactory with some limitations. Smaller obstacles such as Duplo bricks are not reliably detected, and the JONR P20 Pro regularly got stuck on thick carpet borders.
This is where the basic obstacle avoidance via laser distance sensor and contact sensor shows its limitations, while the AI-based camera systems of more expensive competitors understandably perform much better in this respect. In the user manual, JONR also explicitly advises to remove cables and hard, sharp objects such as glass from the floor before using the Robovac, and not to leave any objects on the floor that could tip over.
Although the data sheet states that the battery lasts up to almost four hours, in practice the JONR P20 vacuum and mopping robot will need to return to the cleaning station regularly to clean the mopping pads. You can choose between 5, 10 or a maximum of 15 minutes between cleaning intervals for the mopping pads, which can be configured via the Xiaomi Home app. The pads are cleaned using the integrated fresh and dirty water tanks, each with a capacity of 1.06 gallons (4 liters). Once fully cleaned, the pads are dried with warm air for either 2, 3 or 4 hours. All in all, the JONR P20 Pro is anything but quiet; the noise level of over 80 dB during vacuuming is very noticeable. But the high suction power of 8,000 Pa is definitely a plus for the JONR P20 Pro, as crumbs and dust are properly removed, though dust and dirt in corners are often not picked up by JONR's new robovac.
In terms of the mopping function, the JONR P20 Pro was able to clean kitchen tiles with limitations, but areas were simply left unmopped even though the robot confirmed that the cleaning was complete. Stains on the kitchen floor, if still fresh, were largely removed by the JONR P20. Tougher stains had to be wiped off by hand as usual; we hadto remove old coffee stains or dried grain from the floor, for example. On wooden floors, however, the JONR P20 Pro sometimes failed to wipe at all, or the cloths were so dry after a few minutes, thus wet cleaning was no longer possible for the robovac. It should be noted that cleaning on wooden floors can also be a challenge for other vacuum and mopping robots, of course. Nevertheless, the overall mopping performance is only partially satisfactory, hopefully JONR will improve this with future firmware updates.
Apart from the limitations mentioned above, the overall cleaning performance can be described as okay. The JONR P20 Pro picks up crumbs and dust, but cannot completely clean the corners of the test apartment, despite having a side brush and an extendable mop pad. Carpet detection worked most of the time, with the P20 Pro turning off the mop pads and increasing the suction power to ensure a thorough cleaning. Understandably, the JONR P20 Pro fails on the high doorsteps in the test apartment, where only a Roborock Qrevo Curv (buy here on Amazon DE) could provide a remedy. But with an RRP of $1,399.99 / €1,499, the Roborock Qrevo Curv is significantly more expensive than the JONR P20 Pro's recommended retail price of $699.98 / £777.58 / €599.99.

Pros
+ Good carpet cleaning thanks to high suction power
+ Firmware updates could improve current malfunctions in the future
+ Extensive feature set at a relatively low price
Cons
- Obstacle detection sometimes does not work well
- High noise level, especially when vacuuming
- Mopping function is unreliable
Conclusion - Robotic vacuum cleaner with lots of features that do not always work
With the P20 Pro, the relatively young manufacturer JONR enters the highly competitive robovac market for the first time. The JONR P20 Pro is positioned in the mid-price segment above the price-to-performance king Xiaomi X20+ (€399.99 MSRP), which lacks the P20 Pro's automatic carpet detection, for example.
However, due to the JONR P20 Pro's unreliable obstacle detection requires manual entry of exclusion zones, just like Xiaomi's X20+. The only difference is, that carpets do not need to be manually mapped with JONR's P20 Pro. However, if you want better obstacle avoidance with an AI camera and 3D light sensors, you'll have to buy a more expensive robovac such as the Dreame L10s Ultra (€799 MSRP), which only has 5,300 Pa of suction power.
If you are looking for a mid-priced robovac with many features and you can live with some shortcomings in mopping performance, you should take a look at JONR's P20 Pro.
With the P20 Pro, JONR has made a remarkable entry into the robot vacuum and mopping market, and the navigation and mopping issues can certainly be fixed with future firmware updates. A significant increase in the feature set can only be found in the vacuum and mopping robots from around $1000, such as the Roborock Qrevo MaxV or the Dreame L10s Pro Ultra Heat. In the premier class with cutting-edge features such as automatic overcoming of door steps, you can find products such as the Roborock Qrevo Curv with a recommended retail price of €1499.99.
