Want to know if your WhatsApp message has attracted one of the platform's new Discord-esque reactions? Unfortunately, if you're on your Android device, you can't. However, the Facebook-owned service is now working on this, and is releasing it to its beta-channel users.

WhatsApp instituted the ability to respond to a given message with a single emoji, (or add a reaction) not long ago. However, a user's ability to view the ones their own messages might have garnered thus far on their mobile devices has been limited to date.

Then again, the new feature had found its way to iOS in October 2021, via a new beta. Now, it has arrived on Android in the same way. The latest public result of its Google Play Beta Program is slated to contain access to reactions on that OS for the first time.

This version (2.21.24.8) should add new toggles to turn notifications for new reactions on in the app's settings. They apply to group-chat management as well as that for individual threads.

Therefore, a beta-program member may have a new UI shortcut right to the new emojis that become attached to their messages soon. The same feature may thus be available to all users thereafter soon.
