Newegg is known for introducing different bundles to add value for buyers. In the past, it has bundled CPU coolers with processors and even included free monitors with graphics cards. But now, the retailer has introduced something far more unexpected. Instead of adding another PC component, Newegg is bundling a $50 Starbucks gift card with two high-end DDR5 RAM kits.
On the store, the G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 128GB DDR5 RAM is listed for $1,470, while the G.Skill Flare X5 128GB DDR5 RAM is priced at $1,460. We’re not surprised by the high prices, as we know they’re driven by the ongoing AI boom. What is surprising, though, is that both kits come with a free $50 Starbucks gift card with a message “Drink Coffee while you game.”
It’s easily one of the strangest bundle offers we've seen on a PC hardware store, as a coffee gift card feels like an odd addition to a purchase that costs nearly $1,500. The Corsair Vengeance 128GB DDR5 RAM bundle appears to be a much better option, as it offers a free Corsair MP600 2TB SSD worth $205.
Prior to the AI boom, which has caused memory prices to rise significantly, these memory kits were available for a few hundred dollars. But today, high-capacity DDR5 kits have crossed the $1,000 mark. Even 32GB DDR5 kits now cost over $400, making it difficult for PC builders to upgrade. There are also no clear signs that prices will come down anytime soon. In fact, with demand for memory continuing to rise, prices are expected to increase even further.
