Vertical PlayStation 5 console positioning might be the way to go as new live images show just how stocky the PS5 is on its side

New live images of the PlayStation 5 have found their way online, and although Sony has already revealed the exact dimensions of the next-gen console, it is quite startling just how big the device looks when horizontal. Vertical positioning might be optimal, especially for those who plump for a plump PS5 with disc drive.

With all the PS5 pre-order madness of the last few days, other news about the Sony console may have been easily overlooked, but fortunately it’s quite hard to miss this thicc representative of the next-gen gaming society in some new live images (published by the National Communications Commission via MySmartPrice). Standing the PS5 in a vertical position might be the best way to go here.

The DualSense controller, cables, and the console’s base all appear in the real-world images from the NCC, but it’s hard to take your eyes away from some of the images, particularly the one that shows the device’s label on its meaty rump. This is clearly the disc version of the PS5 as the Digital Edition would be svelter and more balanced when positioned horizontally.

Of course, the looks and design of the PS5 are not the most important aspects of the console, and there are certainly many fans out there who love its appearance. With next-gen 4K gaming, super-fast SSD data transfer speeds, brand-new exclusives, AMD SmartShift technology, Wi-Fi 6, and so much more under the hood, Sony can be forgiven for building a meaty console. Plus, there needs to be room for a first-class cooling solution stashed in there somewhere too.
