Deal | Ultrathin and pocket-friendly 65 W Baseus USB-C charger with foldable plug on sale for US$42
Amazon is currently running a sale on the 65 W USB-C Baseus charger for 15% off the original launch price of $50 USD. The charger is notable for its very thin build of just 0.66 inches thick and foldable prongs. The manufacturer has sent us a sample for our impressions.
When compared to the typical square USB-C wall adapters, the ultrathin profile of the Baseus adapter makes it much easier to transport and much more pocket friendly. It's not that much larger that a small stack of credit cards, for example, and its slim profile is easily the best selling point of the adapter. Both PD 3.0 and PPS are supported to charge the latest USB-C-compatible laptops, tablets, smartphones, and other devices.
There are a couple of drawbacks to keep in mind. Firstly, the charger is advertised as a 65 W AC adapter, but the total output is shared between a USB-C port and a USB-A port. Thus, charging a device via the USB-A port may slow the charging rate of the USB-C port. The peak output of the USB-C port is 65 W but this may fall down to 45 W if charging two devices simultaneously whereas many Ultrabooks can charge at up 90 W. Secondly, the adapter is a little tall and so it may impede usage of an adjacent wall plug as shown by our images below.
Nevertheless, the 65 W Baseus charger is a well-built adapter that should appeal to travelers first and foremost.
