Twitch creators will soon be able to share short videos on the app
In its first major mobile app update since 2019, Twitch is gearing up for quite a big makeover. After the update, users will get access to a new interface, short video stories, and many more features.
As per Twitch CEO Dan Clancy’s open letter posted on the Twitch blog, the app will receive significant changes, with the most interesting one being short video stories. Creators will be able to share quick updates with their communities with these short videos and portrait videos. Along with this, users will also be able to pinch-to-zoom, a feature that has been missing so far.
Another major change will be the Discovery Feed, which will now be the new landing experience in the app. The feed will contain live streams and clips with filters, so users can easily discover new creators and scroll updates from the ones they follow.
Further, Twitch will also be introducing mod tools to iOS devices, with the new Mobile Mod View. Until now, these tools were only available on desktop. In addition to this, Twitch will be rebuilding how users buy and manage subscriptions and optimizing the overall mobile experience.
The open letter mentioned that the update will be available later this year, but a date has not been specified. Twitch is available on Android devices, iOS devices, Steam Deck (curr. $415 on Amazon), PS5, Xbox, Asus ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion GO, and more.
