Toshiba has just announced the new Satellite Z30-B-100, a 13.3-inch Ultrabook that features a thickness of just 17.9 mm at a weight of 1.2 pounds. As far as the build quality is concerned, the new Ultrabook is made out of a metallic magnesium material painted in a "Steel Gray" color, while the keyboard is made out of a matte black plastic.
The manufacturer says that the Satellite Z30-B-100 features a battery life of about 16 hours, as per the Mobile Mark 2012 battery benchmark. This lengthy battery life was made possible by integrating a fast but economical (in terms of power consumption) Intel Core i5-5200U processor, a chip from the Intel's latest Broadwell generation.
As far as the memory is concerned, the Toshiba Satellite Z30-B-100 comes with 8GB of DDR3L-1600 RAM as well as a SSD with a storage capacity of 256GB. The large quantities of volatile and permanent memory is probably what caused the price to raise as far as 1100 Euros. One other nice detail about the Satellite Z30-B-100 that we'd like to mention is that the Ultrabook features full-sized connectors, ones that can be used without the need for an additional adapter.
On the downside, the 13.3-inch display, although covered with a layer of anti-reflective coating, only runs a resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels. At 1100 Euros, many customers are probably expecting to get a resolution of at least 1920 by 1080 pixels. Other specs include Gigabit LAN, WLAN 802.11 ac + a / b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.0 Dual Band & LE, as well as integrated DTS-enabled stereo speakers.
