Tiny compact camera from Japan launches in 9 colors for the equivalent of $42

The brand-new Kenko Tokina Pieni III targets the same audience as the Kodak Charmera ($35 on Amazon). The compact camera measures just 53 x 35 x 18 millimeters and weighs 18 grams, yet still offers a built-in battery that can be charged via USB-C, and a microSD slot.
The Pieni III forgoes a display, instead providing a small optical viewfinder to frame shots. The Pieni III is clearly positioned as a toy camera, as Kenko Tokina uses a tiny 1.32-megapixel sensor in the 1/10-inch format, paired with a 42 mm (35 mm equivalent) f/2.8 lens. The camera captures photos at a resolution of 1,440 x 900 pixels and videos at 720 x 480 pixels at 30 frames per second.
The sensor's light sensitivity is fixed at ISO 100, while the shutter speed is automatically adjusted for correct exposure. While the camera therefore captures photos with remarkably little detail, the Pieni III is intended to be all the more suitable as a fashion accessory. Kenko Tokina not only offers the camera in a total of nine versions, including variants with Cinamoroll and Hello Kitty designs, but also sells neck straps and adapters that allow the camera to be attached to a pair of pants or a keychain.
