Tiny Sigma fp II full-frame camera and lens rumored: Sigma confirms launch event

After rumors recently revealed first details about the Sigma fp II, Sigma China has now sent out invitations to a launch event on Friday, October 23. The tiny full-frame camera could therefore be officially unveiled in just a few days, alongside a new version of the Sigma 50 mm f/1.4 Art DG HSM lens ($1,049 on Amazon).
Sources at L-Rumors reaffirm that this launch event will be used to introduce those two products. Like its direct predecessor, the Sigma fp II is expected to stand out primarily for its particularly compact dimensions, despite its full-frame sensor. The camera reportedly uses a 24-megapixel sensor, giving it an even lower resolution than the five-year-old Sigma fp L, but the new model is said to be significantly better suited to video recording.
Because the Sigma fp II can allegedly record open-gate and RAW video directly to a memory card. Contrary to earlier rumors, the electronic viewfinder will reportedly not be integrated into the body but sold separately as an optional add-on to keep the dimensions as compact as possible. The camera uses a Leica L-mount, making it compatible with numerous lenses from Leica, Panasonic and Sigma. L-Rumors expects a price of around $2,500.
The new Sigma 50 mm f/1.4 Art lens is said to offer optical performance similar to the older model while being only about half the size. For context: The older lens is 11 centimeters long, with a diameter of 7.8 centimeters and a weight of 670 grams. The lens will reportedly be available for both Sony E-mount and Leica L-mount. Rumors also point to an "extremely fast" 65 mm lens, but no further details are available yet.
