Seiko has revealed three new limited edition Prospex Speedtimer Datsun 240X Limited Edition watches. They celebrate the late 1960s and early 1970s, when the first Speedtimer was released and the Datsun 240Z won the East-African Safari Rally.
The Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Compact 6R X Datsun Fairlady Z Limited Edition (SPB517) has a matte black dial, featuring the Datsun logo, stainless steel bezel and black leather strap. It is powered by a Calibre 6R55 watch movement, supporting automatic and manual winding, with a 72-hour power reserve. Only 2,500 units of this model will be available, priced at $1,150/£1,100/€1,250.
The Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Mechanical Chronograph Datsun 240Z Limited Edition (SRQ057) is an all-black model with a more discreet Datsun logo on the dial. This automatic chronograph (Calibre 8R48) features a date display and a tachymeter bezel. The latter allows the user to measure speeds from 50 to 60 kph (~31 to 37 mph), a nod to the bezel on the original Speedtimer. There will be only 500 units of this timepiece, which will retail for $3,200/£2,950/€3,500.
The Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Solar Chronograph Datsun 240Z Limited Edition (SSC957) has a black dial with the Datsun logo in block letters. This watch has a black and silver colored aluminum bezel with a tachymeter, and a dual color metal strap. The calibre V192 is solar powered, and the watch features three smaller dials with functions like 24-hour time and a power reserve indicator. There will be 4,000 units of this timepiece, which will cost $1,000/£880/€990.
The Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Datsun 240X Limited Edition watches will launch in September 2025. However, the solar model (SSC957) is already available to pre-order in European countries like the UK and France.
