This could very well be the OnePlus 6T

OnePlus devices have always drawn inspiration from OPPO’s offerings and the OnePlus 6T will likely be no different when its released in a few months. There’s a high chance we get a device with tri-rear cameras—a la Huawei P20 Pro—and a spanking new design.

OPPO released the OPPO F9 in Thailand and The Philippines last week. While we believed the device would inspire the OnePlus 6T, there’s a chance we may have been wrong, as new reports claim the OnePlus 6T could be modeled after the upcoming OPPO R17 Pro instead.

For those not in the know, OnePlus is, for all intents and purposes, a subsidiary of OPPO, with Vivo completing the triumvirate of BBK Electronics-owned smartphone OEMs. As such, it’ll be no surprise to learn that OnePlus phones are usually based on OPPO flagships—the 5T was based on the OPPO R11s, and the OnePlus 6 got its inspiration from the OPPO R15 Pro—albeit with slight differences.

According to popular tipster Ice Universe, the OnePlus 6T could be based on the upcoming OPPO R17 Pro. The R17 Pro is expected to debut on August 23 and could feature a tri-rear camera setup—like we saw on the Huawei P20 Pro—one of which will be a ToF sensor. The camera setup is also supposed to be a variable aperture one—like on the Samsung Galaxy S9

The R17 Pro is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 710, and will also feature the teardrop notch design OPPO debuted on the F9 last week.

We recently got confirmation that OnePlus could be collaborating with T-Mobile to deliver the OnePlus 6T to the US in October, and we can only wait with bated breath.
