The GMKtec NucBox M8 mini PC is now avaialble with a 25% discount on Amazon.
The GMKtec M8 mini PC can be found with an attractive 25% discount every other month on Amazon. It appears that the product has dropped to the aforementioned discount price yet again, granting bargain hunters a neat opportunity despite the prevailing pricing insanity.

Folks on the lookout for a decently capable mini PC might already have GMKtec's offerings on their radar. Those who also happen to be on a budget will likely be pleased to note that the well-equipped NucBox M8 mini PC is once again available with a sizeable discount on Amazon.

To be specific, the 25% discount drops the M8 mini PC's price down to just $360, and is applicable for customers who do not have Prime membership as well. The product is sold by GMKtec's official store, and is shipped by Amazon itself.

Interestingly, a careful look at the mini PC's price history indicates that the product was previously available at this price multiple times this year so far. Considering the ever-increasing DRAM prices, being able to snag the mini PC at its current price will most likely be a safe choice for folks who need a system urgently.

NucBox M8: Decent multi-core performance, courtesy of 6-core Zen 3+ APU

At its core, this mini PC is powered by the AMD Ryzen 5 6650H APU, packing six cores and 12 threads based on the Zen 3+ architecture. Although the chip is over four years old, it still packs a decent amount of performance for lightweight daily tasks.

To be precise, synthetic multicore benchmarks reveal that the 6650H is roughly on-par with the Intel Core Ultra 5 228V "Lunar Lake" CPU. The NucBox M8 mini PC also comes equipped with 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a 512 GB SSD. While the storage is user-upgradeable courtesy of dual M.2 2280 slots, the RAM, unfortunately, is not.

Our detailed review of the M8 mini PC was mostly positive, but we did encounter performance limitations with the Radeon 660M iGPU. Being almost 29% slower than the popular Radeon 780M, the iGPU is only good enough for extremely lightweight tasks. Of course, the presence of an OCuLink port allows for powerful eGPU setups with minimal performance loss, but that solution requires a lot of additional expenses.

A healthy array of ports is present, including dual Ethernet

The I/O on offer is pretty decent, and has been detailed below:

  • USB4 (DisplayPort 1.4, PD 3.0)
  • Triple USB 3.2 Type-A, single USB 2.0 Type-A
  • HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.4
  • Dual 2.5G Ethernet
  • 3.5 mm audio
  • OCuLink
The WLAN and storage modules are upgradeable, while the RAM is not.

We also had issues with the NucBox M8's fan profile, which ramps up quite audibly when under load. However, we had no issues with the mini PC's overall sustained performance. For a deeper look at the M8, interested customers are requested to check out our in-depth review before making their purchase.

While definitely not as lucrative as some of the mini PC deals we have covered in the pre-shortage days, the current pricing for the GMKtec M8 mini PC is quite fair considering the present market conditions. Users with modest daily workloads and $360 to spend are unlikely to be disappointed with the system.
