Due to the high RAM, SSD, and GPU prices, it is super hard to build a good PC for QHD and FHD gaming. Thankfully, you can still find some decent gaming laptops on sale. For instance, Woot is selling the MSI Vector 16 HX AI gaming laptop with an RTX 5070 Ti and a 20-core Core Ultra 7 255HX CPU for $1,349.99. This is a discount of 18% or $298 (linked at the end).
In addition to the powerful GPU and CPU, the MSI Vector 16 HX AI also carries 16 GB of expandable DDR5 memory, a per-key RGB SteelSeries keyboard, and a 144 Hz FHD+ display. The laptop also features plenty of ports with:
- Two Thunderbolt 5 ports
- Two Type-A ports
- One HDMI 2.1 out
- One SD card reader
- A 3.5 mm headphone jack
- An ethernet port
The hardware is rounded off by an Intel Wi-Fi 6E chip and a large 90 Wh battery.
Sadly, MSI has cut some corners with the available storage and the display quality. The laptop only comes with a 512 GB SSD and the display is only 45% NSTC (around 65% sRGB). So, we’d advise getting a bigger SSD to put it in the spare M.2 slot and investing in a high-quality monitor.
What the MSI Vector 16 HX AI doesn’t lack, however, is performance. Performance is arguably the most important factor in a gaming laptop and the MSI Vector 16 HX AI’s combination of the 12 GB RTX 5070 Ti and the Core Ultra 7 255HX is excellent. We found out in our review that the laptop can handle anything from QHD gaming to demanding content creation workloads without slowing down.
However, this high performance came at the expense of loud fans, as the MSI Vector 16 HX AI can be loud even during normal use. We strongly recommend checking out our full testing to see the fan behavior and the resulting thermal performance.
Finally, our review returned good results for the battery life. Even with performant hardware, the MSI Vector 16 HX AI lasted 7 hours in our WLAN test.
MSI is reportedly going to increase prices of its gaming laptops and GPUs in the coming weeks. So, the current MSI Vector 16 HX AI deal is a pretty good opportunity to get an RTX 5070 Ti laptop at a reasonable price.
