This Lenovo mini PC with a 14-core desktop-class CPU is now $1,150 off for a limited time

There is no denying that the prices for capable mini PCs have risen to the point of being barely affordable for a decent chunk of people. This is, of course, thanks to the overwhelming increases in DRAM and storage prices, which is in turn thanks to the massive data center investments of late to keep the AI dragons well-fed.
Thankfully, occasional discounts continue to exist, making the ordeal somewhat tolerable for folks who happen to be at the right place at the right time. For instance, the Lenovo ThinkStation P3 Tiny mini PC is now enjoying a massive 59% discount on Lenovo's official US store, bringing its price down to just $799.
The ThinkStation P3 mini PC sports a powerful 14-core CPU
This specific variant of the ThinkStation P3 mini PC from Lenovo sports a powerful Intel Core Ultra 5 235 desktop-class CPU paired with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The connectivity options are impressive, but the lack of discrete GPU in this variant is definitely quite upsetting.
With a 14-core setup, the Intel Core Ultra 5 235 "Arrow Lake-S" CPU packs a decent punch, and can easily keep up with high-end laptop CPUs found in most mini PCs, being only around 5% slower than an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 in raw multi-core CPU performance, which is definitely quite impressive.

That said, the Lenovo ThinkStation P3 mini pc's lack of a dedicated GPU, as mentioned earlier, puts it well behind capable APUs in GPU performance, since the Ultra 5 235's paltry 4-core iGPU can barely keep up with a Radeon 660M. Compared to newer iGPUs such as the Radeon 780M, the Intel part's 4-core iGPU is almost half as fast in certain scenarios.
RAM and storage are upgradeable, which is always a great thing. The memory can be upgraded to a whopping 128 GB courtesy of dual SODIMMs, and the storage can be upgraded via the three M.2 2280 slots. The P3 Tiny mini PC is genuinely tiny, measuring in at just 7 x 1.5 x 7.2 inches, and weighs around 3 lbs or 1.4 kg.
The I/O on offer is very impressive, and has been detailed below:
- USB-C (20 Gbps), USB-A (5 Gbps), 5x USB-A (10 Gbps)
- HDMI 2.1
- DisplayPort 1.4
- Ethernet
- WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 (both optional)
Additional expansion options include:
- Up to 4x serial ports
- Up to 4x Gigabit Ethernet ports
- 2x punch-out ports (for HDMI, DP, VGA, Serial, etc)
- Up to 4x additional USB-A ports (10 Gbps)
Clearly, folks who are willing to look past the lack of powerful internal GPU options and primarily have CPU and memory-intensive workloads, will likely be rather well served by the Lenovo ThinkStation P3 Tiny mini PC.
