This Lenovo creator laptop always includes 32 GB or more

In the times of the memory crisis, induced by the AI datacenter craze, RAM has become a luxury. Many laptops that would have sold with 16 or 32 GB GB last year are right now being downgraded to 8 or 16 GB respectively - sometimes, even ordering a laptop with more RAM can result in receiving one with less memory.

In such a situation, the Lenovo ThinkPad X9-15p Gen 1 Aura Edition seems like a rare device. We recently tested this premium 15.3 inch business laptop, which targets MacBook-curious enterprise purchasers. Compared with older Lenovo ThinkPad X9 models, this ThinkPad X9-15p is more performance oriented, edging closer to MacBook Pro territory.

For such a device, 8 GB RAM are out of the question, but even 16 GB do not cut it. This is why the decision of Lenovo to only offer 32 GB or 64 GB LPDDR5X-RAM configurations is refreshing. Lenovo could offer 16 GB configurations, to chase the lower price bracket and make this laptop more appealing - but customers who want a powerful workhorse like the X9-15p would be poorly served by such a configuration. Hence, if you buy the Lenovo ThinkPad X9-15p Gen 1 Aura Edition, you always get at least 32 GB RAM.

Of course, the X9 is not perfect. Unlike many ThinkPads, the RAM is soldered down and not upgradeable, so if you got 32 GB, you are stuck with it, as upgrading to 64 GB would require a whole new motherboard. Still: it is just nice to have the guarantee that if you order this device, you will get 32 GB, as the minimum.
