Though Pavilion laptops are some of the cheapest models from HP, the latest design is a significant leap for the series terms of performance and looks that we think home users and students shouldn't ignore.
Allen Ngo,

Costco is currently holding a sale on the latest HP Pavilion 15 laptop equipped with the new AMD Ryzen 7 5700U CPU. The deal is notable for its particularly high processor performance relative to the low asking price of just under $600 USD. In comparison, similar 11th gen Core i7 deals from Intel would normally retail for a couple hundred dollars more.

Aside from the octa-core AMD CPU, the system also offers 16 GB of RAM and a spacious 512 GB NVMe SSD instead of just 8 GB or 256 GB that we typically see on most other deals. The narrow-bezel chassis design is also a huge improvement from older Pavilion designs for a sleeker, more portable, and more modern look.

A key drawback to the deal is the 1080p IPS display. Though perfectly fine for browsing and video, its colors are nowhere near as deep or accurate as a pricier Spectre or Envy laptop. You may want to connect an external monitor for any picture or video editing as a result.

We recommend checking out our review on the Pavilion 15 to learn more about the ins and outs of the system. Though our reviewed SKU is different from the Costco deal, the chassis and physical features remain identical.

There's a striking level of appreciation you gain for everyday consumer electronics after working with modern nuclear reactivity systems astonishingly powered by computers from the 80s.
