There's a new super Sony Xperia flagship on the way
Sony unveiled the Xperia 1 back at MWC, in February, and it took months for the Japanese company to actually get the flagship into consumer's hands. In fact, the Xperia 1 only started shipping last week. With that in mind, it's a tad surprising that a new rumor has revealed the company's plans to launch another flagship phone as early as next month.
According to the source report, the device could be branded as the "Xperia 1v" or "Xperia 1s". It features a triple camera setup, just like the Xperia 1, but has the camera module vertically aligned at the top left corner. Like the Xperia 1, also, it will be powered by a Snapdragon 855.
Rumors also claim it will sport an LCD display, instead of an AMOLED one like on the Xperia 1, and could be a cheaper alternative to the Xperia 1. The device is expected to be unveiled in Tokyo on July 9.
It's all a tad confusing, really. Sony releases two Xperia flagships every year—at the start of the year, and at IFA in August. If this Xperia 1s/1v is launched next month, will the company still go ahead with the expected Xperia 2's launch at IFA? We'll have to wait and find out.
