The Motorola Razr was announced in 2019 as the first foldable clamshell phone on the market. Therefore, the OEM set its price at US$1499.99 on its launch. Those who find this outlay for a phone powered by the Snapdragon 710 SoC off-putting may be interested to know that it has a special reduced price on its US website until June 21, 2020.

When Motorola sought to release its first foldable mobile device, it seemed inevitable that this device would also resurrect its classic Razr form-factor in the process. The return of this iconic line of phones may have been undercut for many tech aficionados, however, with the Snapdragon 710, 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage found under this hood.

Nevertheless, this product does feature a 6.2-inch 2142 x 876 pOLED flexible display, even if its durability and function has been cast in doubt since its launch. The new Motorola Razr also runs a version of Android 10 optimized for its clamshell category (even if this is a relatively recent development).

Then again, the device's near-US$1500 price-tag may have put many consumers off jumping into this end of the foldable pool, especially in the face of its main competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. This issue may have helped induce Motorola to drop the Razr's price for the first time. It will be sold at $999.99 via the OEM's own US website.

This promotion is slated to last from now until June 21, 2020. It applies to both the Razr's original black colorway and its newer Blush Gold option. The devices offered as part of this sale appear to work on the Verizon network only. It would be interesting to see if this converts many hovering prospective foldable-phone customers into actual Razr users over the next 4 days.
