Motorola's new code-names, Capri and Capri Plus, have cropped up in another new leak. It now seems one of them has an official product name. It, according to Thailand's NBTC, is the Moto G30 - which represents quite a bit of a departure from the normal naming scheme for its series.
The Moto G line has been around for quite a long time now - for 9 generations, in fact, all named accordingly. However, it now seems the OEM is leaving the Gx convention behind in its 2021 generation. On the other hand, the Capri Plus doesn't exactly fit those devices' specs, according to its leaks.
It has been depicted as having the Snapdragon 662 SoC and 4GB of RAM - same as the Moto G Power (2021), and definitely not an upgrade compared to the Snapdragon 730G-powered G9+. Then again, the upcoming G30 has been slated to get 64+13+2+2MP rear cameras, whereas the new G Power has a 48MP main shooter.
Therefore, the Capri Plus may represent a new avenue for the Moto Gs on the smartphone market. In addition, it is not clear what this new certification means for the vanilla Snapdragon 460-linked Capri. It seems to have the same specs as the G Play (2021), although it is now possible it could launch as the G30 Play instead in Thailand.
