The Watch GT 2 is a new Huawei device you will be able to buy soon
Huawei introduced a successor for its popular Watch GT at its most recent event in Munich, Germany today (September 19, 2019). This second-gen device is linked to a 2-week battery life by its maker. It has an HD OLED display with an Always-on mode similar to that found in the Apple Watch 5.
The Watch GT 2 has 42 or 46mm variants, the smaller of which has a depth of only 9.4mm. Huawei has announced that it is capable of standalone music, as well Bluetooth-enabled calls, thanks to its inbuilt speakers. The latter allows a range of 150 meters away from a connected device. The GT 2 also stores up to 500 songs.
This new wearable supports 15 smart workout modes, whereas the original Huawei Watch GT had 13. It also has a stress monitor, as well as a heart rate monitor that continues to work underwater while swimming modes are enabled.
In terms of looks and SoC, the Huawei Watch GT 2 matches up well with its preliminary leaks, down to its dedicated Kirin A1 processor. However, it appears to have an improved choice of straps and bands compared to the simple black and brown options seen in these reports.
Unlike the majority of products shown at the same launch, the Huawei Watch GT 2 was unveiled alongside concrete pricing and availability details. The 42mm variants are slated to start at €229 (~US$253), whereas the larger models cost from €249 (~$275). They will be released for sale in October 2019.
