Reportedly, Samsung may tweak the design of its Ultra smartphone next year with the Galaxy S23 Ultra. According to Ice Universe, Samsung Display could mass-produce quad-curved displays, which are yet to take off properly. The switch to quad-curved displays would give the Galaxy S23 Ultra a different look compared to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which relies on a dual-curved solution.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra has not arrived yet, with Samsung set to unveil the whole Galaxy S22 series on February 9 at its next Galaxy Unpacked event. However, Ice Universe is already making predictions for the Galaxy S23 Ultra, presumably due in early 2023. While the Galaxy S22 Ultra may be the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra's spiritual successor, Ice Universe asserts that Samsung could move away from this design language with next year's Ultra flagship.

Writing on Twitter, the leaker speculates that Samsung could introduce quad-curved displays to the Galaxy S23 series, the likes of which Huawei pioneered with the P40 Pro and P40 Pro+. Supposedly, Samsung Display Solutions can mass-produce such displays, Samsung's LFD business. Ice Universe has not explained why they prefer quad-curved displays over dual-curved ones though, nor what benefits they bring.

Also, it is worth pointing out that the leaker also predicted that quad-curved displays would become the norm among flagship smartphones by 2020. Additionally, Huawei and Xiaomi's quad-curved display attempts do not look as futuristic as renders of how the technology could look. Also, in recent years, Samsung has moved away from curved displays. For example, it has tended to utilise shallower curves than it did a few years ago with something like the Galaxy S7 Edge. Instead, Samsung Display continues to pioneer foldable display technology, some of which it exhibited in January at CES 2022 in Las Vegas.
