Given the release structure Redmi set out for a certain novel smartphone series last year, K20 Pro owners may be truly mystified as to where the next generation of their phone went at this stage. For a while after the base model's own 2020 upgrade was made live, it was speculated that there may be no second variant at all. However, the OEM has now confirmed it is indeed on the way. A new rumor started by a well-regarded Twitter leaker may have new and important information on this state of affairs.
Ishan Agarwal now insists that the K30 Pro is indeed on the way, albeit with a twist of sorts. He claims that this device will offer the Snapdragon 865 processor at the lowest price-point of the year - or one of them, at least. This may come as a relief in an era for which its premium mobile devices are getting more and more expensive. It is most likely to benefit customers in regions such as Asia and also India, where the device may end up marketed as the POCO X2 Pro.
However, there is a potential catch: Agarwal also now intimates that the same phone will come with compromises in terms of other specs in order to rationalize its new flagship-killing stance. Its cameras may be among the most notable of these areas. Therefore, potential high-end Redmi customers may have to re-think their priorities in a new purchase on the K30 Pro's eventual launch.
