Qualcomm's Snapdragon 875 finally has a tentative release date of December 1, according to Roland Quandt. The chip is expected to feature the same 1+3+4 configuration employed by its predecessors, but with a Cortex-X1 Super core, three Cortex-A78, and four Cortex-A55 cores. It is expected to make its debut alongside the Xiaomi Mi 11 in 2021.

Qualcomm usually releases its flagship silicon towards the year-end. Last year's Snapdragon 865 was unveiled on December 5. Although several product releases have been delayed due to the ongoing pandemic, Qualcomm is reportedly on track to launch the Snapdragon 875 on December 1.

The information comes from well-known leaker Roland Quandt on Twitter. While little more information is shared with the Tweet, we have a rough idea about what Qualcomm has in store for us with the Snapdragon 875. The SoC's multiple Geekbench appearances tell us that it will offer significant gains over its predecessor. However, we should take these numbers with a grain of salt as they are not reflective of how the chip will operate in the real world. It shouldn't be long before we find out, though, as the Snapdragon 875 is expected to make its debut alongside the Xiaomi Mi 11 in early 2021.

Earlier reports have also told us that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 will come with ARM's newest X1 Super core. It is also billed to feature three Cortex-A78 and four Cortex-A55 cores in a 1+3+4 configuration. Samsung will manufacture the 5nm SoC alongside its in-house Exynos 1000. Whether or not the Snapdragon 875 will come with an integrated 5G modem remains to be seen. Looking at the Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 865+, the chances of that happening seem to be relatively low.

While the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 has the chops to take on Samsung's Exynos 1000, it is still light years behind Apple's A14 Bionic in terms of single-core performance. Perhaps the rumored Snapdragon 875+ might utilize ARM's Cortex-X1 Super core better and finally bridge the gap between Qualcomm and Apple's silicon.
