When it comes to gaming laptops, the budget sector is what really drives profits for most OEMs. MSI's updated budget series is represented by the GL73/63 models that now integrate RTX 2060 GPUs and up to gen 8 Core i7 CPUs from Intel. The keyboards only get a red backlight, while the displays are limited to 120 Hz FHD TN panels.

Gaming laptops tend to quest a small fortune, especially when equipped with the latest technologies. While the mid-to-high-end models smother users with all sorts of fancy options, the budget variants are usually the ones that bring in the main chunk of profit. MSI has always valued the budget gaming users and the 2019 GL series stands as proof, with updated specs and options that are essential for increased performance, plus a more subtle red lighting on the cover. The 17.1-inch GL73 and 15.6-inch GL63 budget gaming laptops can be equipped with Intel's gen 8 Core i7 CPUs, however, they are limited to the RTX 2060 mobility GPUs from Nvidia, which is equivalent to the previous GTX 1070, but offers the latest ray tracing innovations.

Other standard options include:
•    FHD 120 Hz / 3 ms TN displays (the 15.6-inch model has an FHD IPS option, as well)
•    NVMe PCIe + NVMe / SATA combo + 2.5-inch SATA HDD storage options
•    Red backlit gaming keyboard
•    Giant speaker system + Audio Boost technology + Nahimic 3 Audio enhancer

Prices and availability for all new MSI models will be announced at a later date.

I stepped into the wonderous IT&C world when I was around 7. I was instantly fascinated by computerized graphics, be them from games or 3D applications like 3D Max. I like to keep myself up to date with all the new technologies that get released at an ever increasing rate these days. I'm also an avid SciFi reader, an astrophysics aficionado and, as of late, a crypto geek.
