CES 2019 | The Lenovo ThinkPad E490s will not be released in Europe
At CES 2019, Lenovo not only announced a new ThinkPad X1 Carbon and a new ThinkPad X1 Yoga. The manufacturer also formally announced the Lenovo ThinkPad E490s, a machine which we reported on in December.
This announcement brings bad news for people in the UK and the rest of Europe who might have been interested in buying the ThinkPad E490s: Lenovo won't release the E490s in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, Africa).
The Lenovo E490s is an affordable ThinkPad laptop with a 14 inch screen. It is a much thinner variant-model of the Lenovo ThinkPad E490 without a mechanical HDD. Different from its thinner brother, the ThinkPad E490 will be released in Europe as the successor of the modestly popular Lenovo ThinkPad E480.
The ThinkPad E490s is not the first Lenovo ThinkPad not released in Europe. In the past, certain models or variants of those models have not seen the light of day on European shores. Last year for example, the ThinkPad T480s was released in Europe without an option for a dedicated GPU that was available elsewhere.
