The upper mid-range offering will come with a Core i7-10510U CPU, GeForce MX250 GPU, WWAN, WiFi 6, Thunderbolt 3, Intel Optane H10, FHD touchscreen, soldered RAM, and a new magnesium alloy chassis that takes a lot of visual cues from the flagship XPS lineup.

Unlike the other Inspiron 3000, 5000, or 7000 Comet Lake-U refresh models that we've already covered, the upcoming Inspiron 14 7490 is a completely new offering with no direct predecessor. Its chassis is thus wholly original and it expands on the already expansive Inspiron family with yet another screen size to choose from.

As Dell's latest Inspiron design, the Inspiron 14 7490 is able to integrate more modern features not found on most models in its family including 4G LTE and uSIM, WiFi 6, ExpressCharge, adaptive thermals, Thunderbolt 3, and even Intel Optane H10 storage. CPU options will range from the quad-core Comet Lake-U Core i5-10210U to Core i7-10510U with optional GeForce MX250 graphics. While it won't sport the new hexa-core Core i7-10710U CPU that will be exclusive to the XPS 13 7390 for the time being, its dedicated GeForce GPU will actually give it plenty more gaming power than even Dell's best XPS subnotebook.

Externally, the magnesium alloy chassis will come in Platinum Silver or Ice Berry to mimic the gray and Rose Gold colors of the XPS 13. It's definitely the cleanest and most XPS-like laptop you can get without actually buying an XPS.

Expect the Inspiron 14 7000 7490 to launch on September 10 and October 1 in EMEA and North America, respectively, at starting prices of 999 Euros or $929 USD.
