The Huawei Watch GT 2 receives new features with its latest software update
Huawei continues to update the Watch GT 2, which it announced in October 2019. The smartwatch did not convince us during our time with it, but Huawei has improved the device and eliminated bugs since then. The Chinese company has also succeeded the Watch GT 2 with the Watch GT 2 Pro, which we have also reviewed.
The latest update for the Watch GT 2 contains quite a few changes, too. Huawei has called the update v1.0.11.20, and it should be reaching smartwatches as a 24.11 MB download. You can install the update via the Huawei Health app, but your smartwatch must have at least 20% charge before the update can commence. Additionally, the Health app's progress bar only shows the transfer of the software to the smartwatch, not the installation progress of the update on the smartwatch itself. Being an update from Huawei, it will probably take v1.0.11.20 a few weeks to reach all smartwatches.
According to the official changelog, v1.0.11.20 brings a 7-day weather forecast to the Watch GT 2, along with support for displaying more types of data on watch faces. Huawei has not specified what data can be now displayed, though. The changelog states that v1.0.11.20 improves system stability and fixes some known issues, but it does state how or what issues the update addresses.
