Huawei has opened pre-orders for the Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro in many countries and regions, including the UK and the Eurozone. The company will begin shipping the pair next week, albeit not necessarily simultaneously in all the countries in which they are available.
Nonetheless, Huawei has already started distributing the Watch 3 series' inaugural software update. According to Huawei Central, HarmonyOS 2.0.0.136 is rolling out to the Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro in China. We would expect Huawei to issue a similar update for the smartwatches in other regions soon, too.
Effectively, HarmonyOS 2.0.0.136 is a Day One patch for the Watch 3 series. As a result, the update only adds features that Huawei advertises but did not have time to include before it released the Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro in China. Specifically, HarmonyOS 2.0.0.136 enables skin temperature measurement, a dark mode option for HarmonyOS' control centre and the Huawei Music app.
HarmonyOS 2.0.0.136 also supposedly improves system stability and adds support for additional third-party apps. The full changelog for HarmonyOS 2.0.0.136 is as follows:
- Added support for body temperature detection functionality
- Added new Huawei Music app
- Additional third-party app support
- Display interface optimisations
- System stability optimisations
- New negative one-screen control centre
- New gesture recognition function
