HP has launched a new ACPC (always connected PC) alongside its notebooks and other peripherals at CES 2021. The HP Elite Folio aims to offer a tablet's portability with the processing power of a laptop. It also comes with a stylus out of the box. The HP Elite Folio will be available for purchase in February 2021. HP says that it will disclose its price at a later point.
A Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx SoC powers the HP Folio Elite with a maximum clock speed of 3.1GHz. 5G functionality is possible thanks to its integrated X55 modem. It is possible to configure the tablet with up to 16GB of LPDDR4x RAM (soldered) and 512GB of solid-state storage via an NVMe SSD.
The HP Elite Folio comes with a 13.5-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1280) IPS LCD panel protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Input options on the HP Elite Folio are limited to two USB Type-C ports and a 3.5mm headphone/mic combo jack. That shouldn't be much of a bother, as the include keyboard/trackpad combo connects with the laptop via Bluetooth.
Fast charging is possible via two methods; over-the-counter USB Power Delivery charging bricks and HP's proprietary fast charging technology. Specifics about the battery's capacity will be revealed later, but HP says that it can provide up to 24 hours of video playback for locally stored fines.
Other HP Folio Elite connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, and 4G LTE. The included IR-enabled webcam allows for Windows Hello functionality, which comes with HP's Privacy Shutter.
