Tesla has announced free wraps on the Cybertruck as it grapples with less-than-expected demand. The company is offering the incentive worth up to $6,000 on the Foundation Series edition. This comes after Tesla reportedly removed the Foundation Series badges on some units to pass them off as regular Cybertrucks.
The vinyl wrap comes in 11 different color options, including unique colors like Iridescent Purple and Tactical Green. It protects the truck from scratches apart from the personalization aspect. Buyers can install it at select Tesla Service Centers in California and Texas.
Tesla has tried to stimulate demand with discounts, a $1,000 referral incentive, and free lifetime Supercharging. However, the company has reportedly worked through over one million reservations with only 40,000 sold.
Tesla has also launched leases for Cybertruck in the US. According to the company's website, leases start at $750 monthly for the All-Wheel-Drive trim and $1,000 monthly for the Cyberbeast.
While leases might be another indication that Tesla is struggling to sell the Cybertruck, sales might pick up this year when it releases the less expensive RWD version. The truck has also qualified for the federal tax credit, although the incentive's future remains uncertain under the new administration.
