Tesla slashes up to $12,000 off inventory Model S and Model X

Hours after officially unveiling the upgraded Model S and Model X, Tesla has begun offering significant discounts on the remaining inventory units of the older versions of the cars. Buyers can enjoy up to $12,000 off in the US.

As advertised on its website, Tesla will sell the Model X for between $860 and $7,000 less than the regular price. The discount amount depends on the configuration, including paint color and the number of seats.

Buyers can save even more on demo Model X units. Tesla is offering them for $12,000 less, provided the few thousand miles on the odometer is no problem.

Tesla is slashing between $800 and $9,000 off the pre-refresh Model S. Customers can also choose between brand-new and demo units.

Tesla is hoping to clear out inventory by targeting buyers who are willing to forgo the latest upgrades to the Model S and Model X. The automaker has updated the exterior with new styling on the front and rear, a front Autopilot camera, paint options, and wheel designs, among other changes. Inside, the refreshed Model X has more room for the third-row seat and trunk. Other improvements include better suspension, a quieter cabin, new customizable ambient, and LED footwell and door lighting.

The new Model S and Model X are $5,000 more expensive than their predecessors across all trims.
