Unlike many other brands, Teslas don't turn their headlights automatically when the windshield wipers start working, but this would finally be remedied in the new 2023.26 update that will be rolling out soon. Besides automatic headlights, it also brings Bluetooth game controller support.

Tesla is adding support for Bluetooth game controllers in its vehicles with the upcoming 2023.26 software update, while it mentions that it has been done primarily with the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller in mind.

"Use Bluetooth controllers to play games in Arcade," says Tesla. "To pair a controller, open the Bluetooth panel and follow the instructions," it adds, notifying that the "feature works best with PS5 controllers." So far, connecting a game controller with a USB cable was the best bet in terms of vehicle compatibility.

The 2023.26 update changelog has unearthed other interesting feature that will be coming to Teslas after it starts rolling out en masse in a couple of weeks. One of those is the fan favorite automatic headlights that turn on when the windshield wipers are activated.

"Your lights turn on automatically when windshield wipers are activated and headlights are set to Auto in Controls > Lights > Headlights," tips the changelog. Tesla has notoriously difficult to control automatic wiper system that can be rather erratic at times, so anything that adds to a better wiper experience will help drivers and passengers alike.

Elon Musk recently promised that Tesla will solve the automatic windshield wiper problems in the Autowiper v4 version when it will be "one of the last neural nets to be updated to surround video." It seems that the problem stems from superficial water droplet detection due to the use of a single camera and a single frame that can cause constant wiper activation in sunny weather while on Autopilot, and other unpleasant behaviour.

That same surround video can now be displayed in the Tesla app as well via the Camera View option. "You can now see multiple cameras at once when checking your vehicle’s surroundings," tips Tesla, as long as you have turned on the feature in Controls > Safety > View Live Camera via Mobile App option.

Another new 2023.26 update features include Charge on Solar which lets you top off your car with solar energy from a Tesla Powerwall. "You can choose how much charging comes from solar versus other sources," adds Tesla.
