TerraMaster has launched a new network-attached storage (NAS) solution available in two variants: The F2-425 Plus is priced at around $400, whilst the F4-425 Plus retails for approximately $570. Customers who purchase either model on Amazon before 24 October can enjoy a significant discount. The two models largely differ in the number of storage drive bays. The larger F4-425 Plus supports up to four hard drives and three M.2 SSDs, whereas the F2-425 Plus accommodates only two hard drives instead of four. Both units are equipped with an Intel N150 processor. Though not particularly powerful, the chip is mainly included to handle data operations rather than intensive workloads like gaming.
Another key difference between the models lies in the memory. Measuring 150 x 181 x 219 mm (5.91 x 7.13 x 8.62 in), the four-bay F4-425 Plus offers twice the memory of its two-bay counterpart. However, both models feature dual high-speed 5 Gb/s Ethernet ports, enabling impressive data transfer rates of up to 1,020 MB/s. Each SSD connects via one PCIe 3.0 lane, which may fully utilise the potential of newer, high-speed drives.
A single HDMI output is available for connecting to an external display. Both NAS devices support Docker, allowing users to run a wide range of apps. They also offer comprehensive security options and cloud service integration. The latter feature gives users the option to back up their data on cloud storage in addition to local devices for added protection.
