A fan spotted a list of files in the latest Subnautica 2 dev vlog, which revealed some of the biomes that could be included in the sequel. While the details and visuals are not yet known, the file names did reveal some of the possible names of the biomes.

Subnautica 2, the much-awaited sequel to the popular underwater survival game Subnautica, is in the works, and we’re expecting the early access to launch later this year. While the devs have revealed some details about the sequel through Q&A videos and dev vlogs, most of the interesting details about the plot, map, and characters remain under wraps.

However, thanks to a sharp-eyed fan of the franchise, we may have just gotten a glimpse into what the underwater world of Subnautica 2 would look like.

Recently, Subnautica 2 devs posted a vlog explaining the process that went into creating the environment of the game. During the video, a Reddit user spotted a few file names in the background, which revealed the biomes expected in Subnautica 2. The user listed the biomes and even added screenshots in a post to verify the list.

Here are the biomes that the author of the post spotted and listed -

  • Start Zone
  • Coral Gardens
  • Dolerite Spires (likely a sub-biome of Coral Gardens)
  • Graveyard Spires (likely a sub-biome of Coral Gardens)
  • Jelly Plateaus
  • Kelp Forest
  • Overgrown Ruins
  • Sparse Plains
  • VepZone
  • Void
  • World Tree

Fans of the franchise were quick to comment on the post, with most of them commenting that they were happy to see Kelp Forest making a comeback in Subnautica 2. “I need a big and foresty kelp forest. Thank you,” a user commented.

Meanwhile, other users were excited about other biomes. “Overgrown Ruins is intriguing. Ruins of what? The precursors' stuff? Old human stuff? Something else?” one of the comments read. Some other commenters were intrigued by World Tree and Void.

It should be noted that this is not the complete list of biomes, and the final game may include additional biomes. Further, these might not be the final names of the biomes, so don’t be surprised if you don’t see some of the biomes after release.
