Dave the Diver’s highly anticipated DLC In the Jungle has been officially delayed to early 2026, as devs want to pack in more content. But Mintrocket has plenty of good news for fans, including the return of the Godzilla DLC, a free Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade, and extended availability for other content.

Dave the Diver, the hit indie underwater sushi adventure by Mintrocket Studios, is celebrating its second anniversary. And the devs have taken up this opportunity to loop in fans about their plans for the games. To start with, the 10-minute-long anniversary video confirmed that ‘In the Jungle’, which is the next big content update, has been delayed to early 2026.

"Although we announced it as late 2025, unfortunately, we might need to delay it a little bit to early 2026 to add more exciting content," said Hwang. "There are still so many cool ideas floating around the dev team."

For some context, Dave the Diver: In the Jungle was announced during The Game Awards 2024. Much like the name suggests, the DLC takes place on land, rather than underwater. From what is known about the update, the DLC brings in a new region featuring an island village and a freshwater lake, where players can catch fish for new sushi recipes.

In a major reversal from previous plans, two time-limited DLCs - Godzilla and Ichiban’s Holiday - are back and staying longer. Both DLCs are back on storefronts and can be downloaded right away. This decision comes after a wave of community feedback criticizing the short-lived nature of these releases.

"Although this was not our intention at all, we completely understand that perspective," said Mintrocket studio head Jaeho Hwang. "We want to apologise to everyone who felt let down."

Further, the devs also acknowledged the complaints about the value-for-money of paid DLCs. In fact, Mintrocket has reduced the price of Ichiban’s Holiday by 50% during the current Steam Summer Sale, and regular discounts have been promised.

Dave the Diver to get free Switch 2 upgrade

Mintrocket also announced that Dave the Diver will receive a free upgrade for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The upgraded version promises enhanced performance, improved frame rates, and better overall stability to match the new hardware's capabilities.

“We’re preparing a smoother experience for the next-gen Nintendo hardware,” said Hwang. “We hope it will make diving and fishing even more enjoyable.”

In addition to console improvements, Dave the Diver has also launched on the Epic Games Store, expanding its availability beyond Steam for the first time. This move brings the indie hit to a wider audience, particularly PC gamers who prefer Epic’s ecosystem or have exclusive store credits.

While In the Jungle is delayed, the DLC promises to offer a full original story, freeing Mintrocket from third-party licensing limitations. That means more flexibility on content, availability, and pricing, which is a welcome change for long-time players.
