SteamWorld Dig 2 puts players in the role of the robot Dorothy, who explores a steampunk underground world with a Wild West twist after an earthquake, searching for a missing friend. The game is a 2D platformer with strong Metroidvania elements, gradually introducing new tools and abilities that open up fresh paths in previously visited areas. Gameplay centers on exploration, puzzle-solving and combat, supported by vibrant visuals and a carefully crafted soundtrack.
Those looking to dive deeper into the story and gameplay can revisit our previous article on the game. SteamWorld Dig 2 was already discounted in May 2025 – though by a comparatively modest 91% at the time. It is now available on Steam with an even steeper 94% discount, reducing the regular price of around $20 to just $1.20. While this is not the first time the game has been offered at such a low price, SteamDB data indicates that it still matches the lowest price to date. Given its overwhelmingly positive reception, the deal might be well worth considering for any Metroidvania fan.
In its review, German gaming magazine GameStar noted some criticism of the game’s relatively short playtime of around eight hours and its limited selection of weapons. At the same time, the overall game design was praised, resulting in a solid score of 87 out of 100. On Metacritic, critics awarded the game a Metascore of 88, while users rated it 8.5. Feedback on Steam is even more enthusiastic: 95% of more than 8,600 user reviews are positive. For those who prefer gaming on the go, it is also worth noting that SteamWorld Dig 2 is Steam Deck Verified (currently available for around $480 on Amazon).
