Thanks to a 90% discount, gamers can now grab a first-person shooter on Steam for just $2.99. Whether solo or in co-op, you'll battle relentless hordes of mutants. With over 80,000 positive reviews, Killing Floor 2 could be worth a look for FPS fans.

Developed by Tripwire Interactive and released in 2016, Killing Floor 2 is a co-op shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world thrown into chaos by a failed Horzine Corporation experiment. Following the events of the first game, a deadly virus spreads rapidly across Europe, transforming people into grotesque mutants known as "Zeds." While most flee or perish, small resistance groups emerge to fight back. Players step into the role of one of these fighters, joining heavily armed teams to take on relentless waves of Zeds.

Killing Floor 2 delivers intense wave-based shooter action inspired by classic horde modes. Players start by choosing from ten distinct classes, known as "perks," each with unique abilities. Options include the heavily armored Commando, the explosive Demolitions Expert and the deadly melee-focused Berserker. You can fight alone or team up with up to six players to face increasingly difficult waves of Zeds. Each round introduces new enemy types, ranging from standard zombies to massive, formidable boss mutants.

Successfully surviving waves rewards you with money, which can be spent at the merchant drone on better weapons, ammo and armor. The arsenal includes everything from classic assault rifles and shotguns to experimental plasma weapons and brutal melee tools like chainsaws and bladed fists. Every weapon delivers devastating results, as Killing Floor 2 features a detailed gore system with realistic dismemberment effects.

Thrilling co-op battles – fun yet repetitive

Killing Floor 2 shines in co-op mode, where teamwork and voice chat make the experience even more thrilling. The ten unique classes, each with distinct weapons and abilities, ensure plenty of variety. Players also praise the intense sound design, featuring a heavy metal soundtrack and a brutal atmosphere. The carnage feels even more impactful since enemy remains persist on the battlefield.

However, the gameplay can feel repetitive and quickly become monotonous. At higher difficulty levels, Killing Floor 2 provides a serious challenge that hardcore shooter fans may enjoy, but newcomers might find overwhelming. On Metacritic, the game holds a Metascore of 75 and a User Score of 7.3. On Steam, over 80,000 players have shared their reviews, with 88% giving it a positive rating.
