Epic Games Store reveals the third free game for March 2025

Epic Games Store has made this week's game giveaway live. As we have already covered, the current free game on the platform is Them's Fightin' Herds, which generally goes for $19.99 and has a relatively good player rating. It will be available to claim for $0 from March 6 to March 13 UTC 16:00.

After that, a new free game will replace it, and as Epic Games Store has revealed, it's an action RPG, Mortal Shell. This soon-to-be $0 title on the platform generally goes for $29.99 when there are no discounts in place. It will be available to claim from March 13 UTC 16:00 to March 20 UTC 16:00.

As for the game itself, unlike most of the past free games that were available on the Epic Games Store, this one doesn't have that good of a rating. To be specific, on Steam, it has a "Mixed" rating with over 7,000 player reviews. It's likely because of the confusing level design, which some players note to be overly maze-like.

Critics also note the limited variety and depth of the game. It's said to have only a handful of weapons and character archetypes, which makes it less replayable. Regarding the good parts, Mortal Shell has a Souls-like combat system that takes heavy inspiration from Dark Souls.

This upcoming free Epic Games Store game also requires players to manage stamina, adding a depth of challenge to the combat system. The weapons that are available in Mortal Shell have their own moveset and special abilities. Moreover, the four unique Shells (character archetypes) have different playstyles and stats.
