March 26, 2025 07:05 AM GMT update:
As pointed out by a reader (thanks!), the tasty F1 24 deal is gone. We have not made any changes to the article apart from adding this note.
Original article continues as follow:
F1 24, the latest racing simulation from Codemasters and EA Sports, launched on May 31, 2024, for PC and consoles. As the official game of the 2024 Formula 1 season, it delivers a detailed and authentic racing experience with all current and past tracks, teams and drivers, including the full F2 championship. Step into a real F1 car and race as current stars like Max Verstappen or Lewis Hamilton – or create your own legacy as a rookie. The revamped career mode gives players the freedom to chart their own course: climb the ranks as an F2 talent, relive the glory days of legends like Michael Schumacher or Ayrton Senna, or build a custom team from the ground up. However, one notable change is the removal of the story mode Breaking Point, which many fans will miss.
Alongside the classic career mode, F1 24 also features F1 World, where you can take part in single races, challenges or online events. In this mode, cars can be customized using parts and upgrades you collect along the way. One of the game’s key innovations is its new dynamic handling system, which aims to deliver more authentic driving through updated physics and improved tire models. However, despite these changes, many players still feel the driving leans too much toward an arcade style. If you're after a racing sim that prioritizes realism, titles like Assetto Corsa Competizione or iRacing might be a better fit.
Reviews: Good overall package, but a bit too Acade-heavy and with partial online constraints
The German website GamersGlobal.de has reviewed F1 24 and highlighted its solid overall content package. The game features appealing graphics, runs smoothly and benefits from improved lighting and more realistic character models. However, the somewhat arcade-leaning driving experience and inconsistent AI tuning drew criticism. Another downside is that much of F1 World requires an online connection, giving the game a live service feel. This online dependency could become more of an issue over time.
F1 24 holds solid ratings on Steam, with about 73% positive reviews from around 11,000 players. On Metacritic, critics gave it a respectable score of 72, while the User Score sits at a mixed 4.7. The lower user rating reflects both the removal of the story mode and the limited improvements over the game’s predecessor.
85% discount on Steam
F1 24 is currently available on Steam with an 85% discount, reducing the price from $70 to approximately $10.50.
