The Steam Deck LCD replacement battery is finally back in stock on iFixit. However, users might be disappointed to learn that it now costs $50 more than before.

A few weeks ago, Steam Deck owners were worried that Valve might be discontinuing replacement parts for the original Steam Deck LCD model, especially its battery. The battery had gone out of stock on iFixit, and a representative of the company claimed Valve was "starting to sunset these parts." However, iFixit's CEO later confirmed that Valve had reached out and that a fresh batch of replacement batteries was on the way. And while the new stock has arrived, the price has increased significantly.

Before it sold out, the Steam Deck LCD replacement battery was available on iFixit for $79.99. Now that it has returned, the price has jumped to $129.99, representing a significant $50 increase. Users who want the Fix Kit, which includes useful tools such as a spudger, plastic cards, angled tweezers, opening picks, a precision bit driver, and 4mm precision bits, will now need to pay $134.99.

Interestingly, the price increase currently only affects the Steam Deck LCD battery. The Steam Deck OLED replacement battery is still listed at $79.99, while its corresponding Fix Kit remains priced at $84.99. It's possible that the OLED battery could see a similar increase once its current inventory sells out and a newer batch arrives, though there is no confirmation that this will happen.

At the time of writing, iFixit has not explained why the Steam Deck LCD battery now costs significantly more than before. Regardless of the reason, the higher price will likely disappoint many Steam Deck LCD owners who had been waiting for the battery to come back in stock so they could replace the old one.
