Sony has announced a plan to take its existing Electronics Products & Solutions (EP&S) divisions, which includes its Mobile Communications business, and combine them into 1 intermediate holding entity. This new corporation is intended to streamline and optimize these areas for the Japanese giant.
Sony has released a statement outlining its plan to establish a new holding company. This new corporation will absorb the areas of Mobile Communications, Imaging Products & Solutions, and Home Entertainment & Sound for the OEM. It has announced that all their respective engineering, manufacturing, sales and marketing concerns will also be integrated into this new body.
This move may be indicative of the recent financial performance of some of these heretofore separate businesses, which are known under the collective terms of Electronics Products & Solutions (EP&S) at their company. Sony has also noted that this move is intended to "accelerate" its to-be consolidated business.
The company also plans to "optimize" the new holding corporation's "talent" and commercial portfolio, while "further enhancing competitiveness and creating new business". Hopefully, this will entail only positive impacts on any staff members or products at Sony.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
