Sony to release three new devices in September
Japanese giants Sony are billed to announce the launch of three new devices at their IFA 2017 event in September.
The Xperia XZ1 will come with a 5.2" FHD display, Snapdragon 835 SoC, 3000mAH battery, and 4GB of RAM.
The Xperia XZ1 Compact will sport a much smaller 4.6" HD display, Snapdragon 835 SoC, 2800mAH battery, and 4GB of RAM.
The Xperia X1, however, will ship with the newly-announced Snapdragon 660, 5" FHD display, 2800mAH battery, and also 4GB of RAM.
The XZ1 and XZ1 Compact are likely to represent lower-priced, smaller versions of the XZ Premium that was released earlier in May, while the X1 would be an upper mid-range entry.
While all three appeal to a niche crowd, one must question Sony's insistence on producing smaller-sized high-end devices, especially with the competition apparently keen on making phablet-sized devices the norm. All three devices are expected to feature Sony's new continuous shooting technology and may also come with the XZ Premium's 19MP camera.
The event will be held all through the first week of September.
