Amazon US and Sony have reduced the XR-65X90K, a Bravia X90K series TV that launched last May for US$1,599.99 in the US. Since then, the LED Smart TV has received a US$100 permanent price cut, although it briefly dropped below US$1,000 in October. Now, Amazon US and Sony have brought the XR-65X90K back to that price.
As before, Amazon US has the edge over Sony's deal, albeit only by a few dollars. Specifically, Sony sells the XR-65X90K for US$999.99, a US$500 saving on its list price. By contrast, Amazon US has priced the XR-65X90K at US$998, likely to be more competitive than Sony. Alternatively, Amazon US offers used XR-65X90K units at even steeper discounts through its Amazon Warehouse program.
While not an OLED Smart TV, the XR-65X90K provides excellent colour accuracy and higher peak brightness when viewing SDR or HDR content. The LED Smart TV also contains twin HDMI 2.1 ports for 4K and 120 Hz gaming with Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technologies enabled. The XR-65X90K supports Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode when connected to a PlayStation 5 too, making it a good partner for Sony's latest games console. The Bravia X90K series model masters all contemporary streaming services as well, courtesy of Google TV integration.
