We subject every smartphone to comprehensive performance benchmarks, and every now and then there are some significant surprises. This is also the case with the Motorola Moto G47 (around US$ 200 at amazon.com), which, as a relatively affordable model, naturally can’t keep up with high-end phones.
However, most cell phones these days still offer enough power to navigate menus smoothly and run simple apps without any issues. Is that also the case with the Moto G47?
Motorola Phone with MediaTek SoC
The Motorola phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300—a chip designed specifically for the lower price segment. Combined with 8 GB of RAM, this results in a configuration that sounds solid on paper but falls significantly short in synthetic benchmarks.
Geekbench Single-Core Performance in Detail
The Geekbench 6 multi-core test yields 1,306 points for the Moto G47. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 5G with Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, on the other hand, achieves 2,963 points—a 127% increase. The Samsung Galaxy A37 5G scores 3,505 points, outperforming the Motorola by 168 percent.
Both phones are currently sold online for only slightly more than the Moto G47.
Everyday Scenarios Tested
When opening standard apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, or Chrome, you rarely notice any limitations in everyday use. Navigation with Google Maps and video streaming via YouTube also usually run smoothly. However, occasional stuttering may occur.
As soon as resource-intensive applications are running or demanding games are launched, delays become apparent. Gamers should definitely consider a different model with a more powerful processor.
OK for Basic Tasks
The Moto G47’s processor power is sufficient for basic tasks, but not for performance-intensive use cases.
