Deal | Set in a dark fantasy universe, this city builder with 94% positive reviews on Steam is 70% off

Published by Hooded Horse on December 8, 2023, Against the Storm is a dark fantasy city builder in which you embody the Scorched Queen's viceroy, who must reclaim the wilderness and find valuable resources. And currently, this game is available for $8.99 on Steam.

Thus, build and manage multiple settlements across a vast world. These settlements are home to different species, and you’ll need to make the most of each one’s strengths and meet their various needs.

You'll also need to explore the world map to collect meta-progression resources. In fact, the Queen demands constant progress, and you'll have to upgrade the Smoldering City throughout your journey.

To do so, take on new challenges in each biome and earn reputation. But the wilderness is full of dangers, and storms can slow your progress. If your settlements fall, your expedition may end.

On Steam, players enjoy its roguelite mechanics, which allow them to continue playing even after an expedition ends. The graphics are also well received, as is the core gameplay. However, despite the presence of quests, several players did not like the story.

Some players have also criticized the gameplay for being repetitive and the game's progression for being too slow. Furthermore, others feel that the game's difficulty is unbalanced. Despite this, it has 94% positive reviews out of 37,783 reviews. On Metacritic, it has a solid Metascore of 91, while its user score stands at 7.9. Finally, according to SteamDB, this 70% discount will end on October 22, 2026. After that, its price will return to $29.99.
