Seiko unveils new limited-edition collab watch, ships in a fun house-shaped-box

Seiko has launched a new Hangyodon collaboration watch — it went on sale October 8 through Premico, the mail-order brand run by Imperial Enterprise. This time around, the Japanese company has put a fishcake on a watch dial, and interesting is one of the many ways you could describe it.
It costs 49,280 yen with tax, about $311, and only 2,000 exist. Each caseback has its own number from 1 to 2000.
The dial is probably the best part of the watch because that is where the work was invested. Premico calls the color emerald green, though in the product shots it looks much closer to pale sea glass. You can see a gold shell sitting at twelve. Hangyodon and his octopus friend Sayuri hold hands down at the bottom.
Now, near four o’clock, faint enough to miss, there is a naruto. The pink-swirled fishcake. The designers put his lunch on the dial.
This kind of detail is somewhat rare: you only get that kind of detail when the people designing the watch actually know the character.
Going on, the caseback is engraved with the pair and edition number underneath. The box is shaped like a house. It's covered in shells and starfish, and the back panel shows the two of them napping.
The watch itself is very small and plain. Steel case and bracelet, 34.8 by 29.1 mm, 7.9 mm thick. Quartz, accurate to plus or minus 15 seconds a month, good for 10 bar. The crystal is curved Hardlex. The collab is made in Japan and has a three-year warranty. You can adjust the bracelet from 12 to 18 cm with a tool packed in the box.
Shipping starts in late December.
