Reviews for the Samsung Ultra Touch 740U3E-S02DE
The more the better! Samsung packs the Series 7 flagship in an aluminum housing and equips it with a powerful Core i7, a dedicated AMD graphics card, a large SSD and a multi-touch Full HD IPS display. A bit over the top? We have thoroughly tested this good piece of hardware for you…

We think there are two compelling reasons to buy the Samsung Series 7 Ultra: the first is the Full HD screen and the second is the extra graphics support from AMD. This is what really sets this Ultrabook apart from the pack, but it's also responsible for the premium price point. However, if it's portability you value over everything else, we think you're better off looking elsewhere. While the Series 7 Ultra doesn't have an issue with power, it does have a slight weight problem.

While the Series 7 is a great Ultrabook, and one of the best we’ve seen, its hardware is flagging in comparison to Apple’s latest MacBook. The screen, though, is magnificent, and deserves the sort of round-the-block queues usually reserved for Cupertino’s latest. That alone isn’t enough, though, and for now the MacBook Air is safe at the top of our laptops Top 10.

Model:
The Samsung Series 7 family consists of high performance mobile computing solutions. The Samsung Ultra Touch 740U3E-S02DE is one of the newer models and a real luxury model. It sports a brushed aluminum chassis, which looks and feels great. Its portability is good with a weight of 1.65 kg.
Sporting a 3rd generation Intel Core i7 processor and up to 6 GB DDR3 RAM, the laptop delivers top performance for its class and runs most demanding applications without problems. The intelligent Intel Turbo Boost technology adapts the clock rate to the load and provides a seamless user experience. The laptop features a dedicated AMD Radeon 8570M graphic card for rich multimedia and gaming experience. The 13.3 inch LED display has a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080. In addition, it is touch sensitive and touch inputs work well under Windows 8.
The high performance does not have a negative impact on the battery life. But, the battery is not removable when the battery lifetime ends. Another downside is the lack of an optical drive. But, this allowed a lighter and thinner design of the laptop. Overall, the Samsung Ultra Touch 740U3E-S02DE is not cheap, the competition delivers less performance for the same price.
AMD Radeon HD 8570M:
Lower-end graphics card based on the GCN Mars architecture. The GPU is similar to the Radeon HD 8590M, but with slower DDR3 VRAM and a 64-Bit memory interface.
Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
3537U: Fast Ivy-Bridge-based ULV-CPU in Q1 2013. Offers a core clock of 2.0 - 3.1 GHz and an HD 4000 GPU (350 - 1200 MHz). The TDP is rated at 17 W.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.
The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.
