Samsung released the Samsung Series 3 notebook before the Ultrabook craze hit. I’d rather have one of those, but at two to three times the price budget buyers get a great deal. For the mobile-minded user who wants a decent computer without paying Apple prices, the Samsung Series 3 is a good option. If you like what you saw you might want to compare it to the HP 3115M or the Gateway NV55S05U.

Few laptops garnered as much virtual ink at CES 2011 as the Samsung Series 9, a slim, slick 13-inch laptop positioned as a Windows alternative to the MacBook Air. Later came an 11-inch version, but both were priced well over $1,000, putting them out of reach for most laptop shoppers. Samsung's sharp designs translate well to this more affordable new line, although the Series 3 is still at the high end of the ultraportable price range.

If your prime concerns are battery-life and performance you would do best to pass on the Samsung 300U1A-A01 and take a look at a better performing laptop, like the Editors' Choice Toshiba Portege R835-P50X. But if you want a small laptop that's portable and stylish, you might find that the Samsung 300U1A-A01 catches your eye.

The Samsung Series 3 may not be the thinnest or lightest 13-inch laptop on the market, but it does offer solid performance and storage capabilities that are being sacrificed by many of the latest ultraportables. They keyboard and trackpad are also well designed to be accurate and comfortable.

The NP300E7A is part of Samsung’s Series 3, which aims to ally affordable pricing with decent hardware. Like the Packard Bell LS44-HR, the NP300E7A isn’t the most powerful nor the best equipped of the 17.3-inch machines we’ve tested. It will nevertheless be a good replacement for a desktop computer that has become too big for daily tasks and it's also reasonably priced.

Samsung's 15-inch Series 3 budget model sets itself apart is a few areas, but there are enough minor issues with it that it fails to rise above an average laptop priced at $600. The big problem with it is the overall feel and the plastics used in the case just feel cheap. This mars what is in some ways an above average system thanks to its nice keyboard and trackpad as well as Bluetooth capability.

In terms of productivity, the Samsung Series 3 NP300E5A is a great budget laptop, thanks to its low price, excellent usability, reasonable specifications and rugged lid. Unfortunately its potential as an entertainment laptop is hindered by its sub-par 15.6in screen, and with plenty of competition, the NP300E5A simply doesn’t stand out enough.

Samsung: Samsung Group is the largest South Korean conglomerate and was founded in 1938. Samsung Group employed 489,000 people in 2014 and is one of the world's largest companies in terms of revenue and market strength. The name Samsung means "Three Stars" in Korean and represents the three sons of the company's founder. The company was founded in 1938 as a grocery store. 14.00:
14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.
In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.

2.7 kg:
With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.
72.24%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
