The Galaxy M30s proved to be quite different from its siblings by getting closer to the Galaxy A-series. It's one of the easiest recommendations to make from Samsung's low- to mid-range portfolio. Moreso on some markets than on others.

Even if we don't compare the Galaxy M30s to the Galaxy M30, it's a good phone, but with a few less-than-obvious flaws. For one, the chipset still isn't equipped to take on heavy multitasking. The frequent stutters in the default camera app are a constant reminder of this. What's more, the glossy plastic finish on the phone's back panel make it look less classy than it is. Even if it is a bit overpriced at Rs 16,999, the Samsung Galaxy M30s is a phone you can't go wrong with.

The Samsung Galaxy A70s looks beautiful but the device disappoints when it comes to performance. At this price, you can get the Redmi K20 Pro, Asus Zenfone 6z or the OnePlus 7 which offer you flagship-grade performance. The A70s handle the day to day tasks with ease but when you pay 30K for a smartphone you can’t settle with less. At this price range mostly every smartphone offers the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset but the Galaxy A70 uses Snapdragon 675 which is the same chipset that we’ve seen in mid-range devices like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro. Hence, if you aren’t a heavy user or you are specifically looking to buy a Samsung smartphone then, yes, the Samsung Galaxy A70s is the ideal choice for you.

After a series of hits, Samsung’s Galaxy M30s appears to be just coasting along. It just doesn’t do enough to be a stand-out recommendation. In a market segment that is drowning in fantastic options, incremental updates just don’t cut it anymore. It’s not a bad phone, but unless you are fixated on buying a Samsung phone, and to be sure there are reasons for it, it just isn’t a very exciting piece of kit. You could do a lot better with the Redmi Note 7 Pro or one of Realme’s many options.

Samsung’s latest offering comes in an already over-saturated market where there is a new handset in every Rs 500 price difference. No doubt that in a market like this, it is hard to offer a handset that manages to leave a mark.

The Samsung Galaxy M30s can be seen as an upgrade over the existing Galaxy M30. It retains its predecessor's good attributes, such as the crisp AMOLED display, and bumps the battery capacity up to 6,000mAh which helps deliver better battery life. The new Exynos 9611 SoC is more powerful than the Exynos 7904, and offers similar levels of performance as other popular processors at the same price point in the market.

Galaxy M30s is a refined offering from Samsung when you compare it with its predecessor. The smartphone offers a good display and the performance is satisfactory. The camera does a good job in daylight condition and battery backup is quite impressive. On the downside, the low light performance is not that great and the bloatware is quite prominent. Overall, if you are looking for a smartphone that offers long battery life and good display then you can consider this smartphone, else you can also consider Xiaomi Mi A3, Realme XT and more.

The Galaxy M30s is an ideal phone if you want a device that can handle excruciating hours of streaming, gaming and camera use, apart from the usual social media use. The battery is impressive and allows you to make full use of the features. The overall performance is fine, but the camera may not be all that exciting.

To conclude, the Samsung Galaxy M30s camera performance has improved as compared to its predecessor. The smartphone offers some good performance in the daylight conditions and it is fast to lock focus on the subject when you click macro subjects. The wide-angle mode also offers some good results, though the issue of barrel distortion was quite visible. The low light performance still needs improvements as the colours were slightly washed out and the wide-angle lens was average. However, the Night mode sometimes improves the image in low light conditions. The selfie performance is also decent in daylight, though edge detection in portrait mode could have been. Overall, it offers good results in daylight and low light needs improvements. However, the company has promised that it will soon roll out an update that will improve the low light performance of the device.

Again, the M30s falters in some areas – performance in day-to-day use needs more optimization, the software could do with more features, and low-light camera performance could be better. But, when it comes to the value-for-money quotient, the Galaxy M30s is undoubtedly the new champion in Samsung’s budget lineup and gets a hearty recommendation.

I was expecting the Galaxy M30s to be a dull and boring device, but I was wrong. In fact, I enjoyed using the M30s. Performance is no issue on the phone, and the battery life is just amazing. The phone is fast, feels solid and well-built, and the screen looks simply gorgeous. For a change, I also liked the phone’s camera performance. What I didn’t like about the phone is a number of preloaded apps on the device. Otherwise, the M30s is a flawless device, considering how affordable the device is.

The Galaxy M30s is worthy upgrade to the M30. With a bigger 6,000mAh battery and new Exynos 9611 processor, the M30s feels more relevant than the M30 and i in a better position to take on the competition in the affordable mid-range segment. It's introductory launch price of Rs 13,999 also makes it more affordable compared to the Rs 14,990 launch price of the M30.

Samsung Galaxy M30s can be a catalyst for Samsung to strengthen its position in this highly-competitive market. The smartphone offers an AMOLED screen along with promising cameras and massive 6,000mAh battery. This coupled with the latest hardware and software makes it a compelling device. As for the competition is concerned, it has to fight Realme XT, Xiaomi Mi A3, Vivo Z1X and more to become people’s favourite.
